Belinda has a new house. Belinda has no yard. Belinda does have neighbors. Unfortunately her neighbors are all named Bambi. And Bambi is hungry. We don't want to feed Bambi. We have different ideas. Below are plants that will work in that regard.

-Bicolor Iris will bloom all summer and only get 2' tall.

-Asiatic Jasmine is a great ground cover for sun or shade. And it's mostly drought resistant too.

-Blue Plumbago blooms from spring through fall. You can find it with blue flowers and white flowers too.

-Mexican Feather Grass stays short and blooms all the time. No need to ever shear it.

-Vinca major is a good ground cover for sun or shade and it's drought resistant too.

-Variegated Flax Lily gets about 2' tall.

-New Gold Lantana is probably the most popular Lantana in Texas

-Purple Trailing Lantana might be in second place.

-Variegated Japanese Sedge is great for shady or sunny spots if deer are a problem for you.

Three shrubs that bloom are:

-Radiance Abelia-this is a compact variety that's variegated.

-Glossy Abelia will get about 5' tall but by shearing it once a year you can keep it 4' pretty easy.

-Primrose Jasmine is a cascading plant that has yellow flowers in the spring. In more tropical areas it can get 8' tall but in our area if it gets 6' tall we are lucky. Usually about 5' tall and wide is what you expect here.

-Pride of Houston Yaupon Holly will get about 10' tall and 8' wide and it has red berries in the fall and winter.

-Viburnum suspensum is a great hedge you can maintain 4'-6'.

-And another deer resistant shrub Ed Goucher Abelia is great for hedges in the 4' range.

Now let's talk about walkways.

-here's a solution for that area where you have worn a path from the garage around the side of the house. Make a bed and put down flagstone on the edge.

-you know that narrow little area between the house and the fence that's good for nothing. Do this! Now it's a fun little spot to check out once a week and plant flowers in the summer.

-Or you can use up all those left over rocks and bricks and other flat stones. There are no rules!! Be artistic and creative.

That's all we have room for today.
